介词with的用法与翻译
一、作为最基本的用法,表示人与人、物与物或事与事之间的联系或相互关系时,译为状语.
When iron rusts it unites with oxygen from the air.
铁生锈就是跟空气中的氧结合.
Oil will not mix with water.
油总是不能和水相混.
二、在某些形容词和作形容词的分词后,表示主谓关系,译为存在句.
The ground was covered with snow.
地面被雪覆盖着.
The street was littered with paper.
街道上满是乱扔的纸屑.
The furniture was thick with dust.
家具上蒙着一层厚厚的灰尘.
The lees were crawling with caterpillars.
叶子上爬着毛虫.
三、指原因或理由时,译为带“得”的补语.
His lips quivered with rage.
他愤怒得嘴唇发抖.
The man suddenly shouted with pain.
这人突然痛得叫了起来.
When they saw us, they jumped with joy.
他们看到我们时,高兴得跳了起来.
四、表示方式时,译为带“地”的状语.
They passed the examination with ease.
化们轻易地通过了考试.
He does experiments with care.
他小心地做实验.
They iled with pleasure.
他们高兴地微笑着.
五、表示伴随状态、原因和结果,译为主次并列句.
She fell into deep thought with so many peoplearound her．
她沉思起来,周围有许多人.（伴随状态）
With you standing there ,we can´t work.
你们站在那里,我们没法工作.（原因）
六、表示工具、手段、时间和方式,译为动词.
They measure the temperature with a new-type in-strument.
他们用一种新型仪器测量温度.（工具）
Temperatures vary with the time ofthe year.
温度随着季节而变化.（时间）
The cashier has absconded with the contents of thetill.
出纳员携带钱柜里的钱潜逃了.（方式）
英语中的介词含动态或动作之意,而汉语中只能用动词表示.由于这一区别,所以英语中的介词在汉语中往往用动词来翻译.
七、袁示转折或原因,译为连词.
With all his faults,I consider him a good student.
虽然他有缺点,但我仍认为他是一个好学生.
I can´t concentrate on my work with so many ma-chines making so much noise.
由于机器噪音太大,所以我的精力难以集中在工作上.
八、固定词组的翻译.
1．用在某些分词或形容词后面,表示语法上的主谓关系
satiied with one´s job对某人的工作感到满意
disappointed with the result对结果感到失望
2．表示其后的名词和其前的动词之间的动宾关系
We will deal with that matter later.
我们以后再处理那件事.
What do you do with all the fruit you grow?
你是怎样处理你种的所有果树的果实的？
He refused to part with his money.
他拒不放弃他的钱.
